In a significant development for the Philadelphia Eagles, quarterback Jalen Hurts' availability for the upcoming Monday night clash with the Seattle Seahawks hangs in the balance. Hurts, a pivotal figure in the Eagles' offense, has been downgraded to questionable due to an illness, casting uncertainty over his participation in this crucial encounter.

Hurts, who missed Saturday's practice, has been reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport to be battling an illness that has jeopardized his status for Monday's game. To prevent the spread of the illness, Hurts will be traveling separately from the team.

The Eagles have not disclosed Hurts' participation in the Thursday and Friday practice sessions, adding to the speculation surrounding his condition.

Hurts' Uncertain Status

The Eagles, currently positioned as the fifth seed in the NFC playoff picture with a 10-3 record, face a pivotal game against the Seahawks.

This comes from consecutive losses to the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys, making Hurts' role in the upcoming game even more critical. Throughout this season, Hurts has been a consistent performer, starting in all 13 games and amassing 3,192 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and an impressive tally of 12 rushing touchdowns.

His last absence from a regular-season game dates back to Week 17 of 2022. Should Hurts cannot take the field, the Eagles will likely turn to veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota. Signed this offseason for his similar dual-threat capabilities, Mariota is a seasoned player with a nine-year NFL tenure, including a recent stint as the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons in 2022.

His experience, marked by a 34-40 record as a starter and a completion rate of 61.3% for 2,219 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, makes him a reliable alternative. However, his time in Atlanta ended with him being benched in favor of Desmond Ridder.

Rookie Tanner McKee, another potential option, seems less likely to start over Mariota, given the game's high stakes and Mariota's experience. As the Eagles prepare for a crucial game that could significantly impact their playoff positioning, the question of who will helm the quarterback position remains a topic of intense speculation and interest among fans and analysts alike.
