The Buffalo Bills are set to kick off the 2023 season without the dynamic prowess of their star edge rusher, Von Miller. This development comes in the wake of Miller's placement on the reserve/PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, as he continues to rehabilitate from a torn ACL.

This information was relayed to the public by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Tuesday, citing a well-informed source. This move guarantees Miller's absence from at least the season's initial four games before there's a possibility for his activation.

The notable linebacker, now 34, endured this ACL injury during the Thanksgiving match against Detroit on November 24, 2022.

Miller's Cautious Recovery Outlook

Throughout the offseason, Miller remained hopeful, expressing his ambitions of hitting the field as the 2023 season begins.

However, he has always maintained a balance in his statements, emphasizing his unwillingness to rush his recovery. "I've been eyeing that opening game against the Jets, with Aaron Rodgers under the Monday Night Football lights," Miller stated earlier in June.

"But while I'm committed to doing everything within my power — physically, mentally, emotionally — to be up for it, I acknowledge that some things aren't under my control. If I don't make the first game, I'm confident I'll be back no later than Week 6." With the safety of their eight-time Pro Bowler in mind, the Bills have opted for a cautious approach.

As a result, Miller will be sitting out of contests against teams like the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders, and the Miami Dolphins. If all goes as planned, Miller fans can mark their calendars for October 6, when he could potentially make his comeback against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game set in London.

Optimism remains high within the Bills' camp, as they anticipate that once Miller returns, he will be in optimal condition, ready to amplify their defensive line for the season's remainder, and more importantly, during their quest for playoff success.
