Aaron Rodgers has told Sauce Gardner that one day he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Last Thursday, the New York Jets played against the Cleveland Browns in the Hall of Fame Game. Since the Jets are the featured team in this year's Hard Knocks, the camera crews were closely filming the Jets players and staff.
In the first episode of Hard Knocks, one moment between Rodgers and Gardner was shown. "You'll be here one day. I'll be real old and gray when that happens," Rodgers told Gardner, via CBS Sports. Gardner, the fourth overall pick of the 2022 NFL draft, was also named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year last season.
Gardner is widely expected to have a great career and be one of the best cornerbacks in the league for many years. "My mom always used to tell me to stay a kid as long as I could. But it's like, if I'm really gonna do this, I'm gonna be older, bro.
I got aspirations of playing in the league for 40 years. I'm trying to be a 40-year-old (in the NFL)," Gardner told Rodgers.
Rodgers tips Gardner, Garrett Wilson for success
Previously, Rodgers also spoke extremely highly of highly-talented Jets wide receiver Wilson, who won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award last season.
Earlier this month, Rodgers said that he sees traits of Davante Adams in Wilson. "Man Garrett, what an amazing kid. I have so much love and respect for Davante [Adams], he's the best receiver in the league. I don't say this lightly, but there are definitely traits that this 17 [Wilson] has that special 17 [Adams] has as well.
I'm not going to put him in that category yet because Davante is in a category by himself, but Garrett really has the potential to be special. He has great talent, incredible work ethic, and he's a freaking great kid. He's a good human being.
He cares about it and carries himself the right way, like a seasoned vet," Rodgers said on NBC of Wilson during the Hall of Fame Game. It will be interesting to see how much can Rodgers do with a talented Jets team in 2023.
