Ja'Marr Chase reveals he told Joe Burrow he only wants to see him on the field in Week 1 if he is fully healthy and ready to go. On Thursday, Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Burrow suffered a calf injury. After Burrow was carted off the field, it was reported that the star quarterback would be sidelined for several weeks.
Burrow will very likely miss the remainder of training camp and there is no guarantee that he will be ready to play in the Bengals' season opener. "I told him that with all honesty I don't want him there. Same thing with me last year.
I sat out an extra game just to let my hip all the way heal up, and you don't want to cause no other problems later on in the season, and I told him as long as you're there after Week 5 and on, we're good brother," Chase told NFL Network.
Chase: Burrow doesn't know when he will be back
Burrow could potentially miss Week 1 and be sidelined further. But Chase remains hopeful that Burrow will be back on the field soon. "He just told me he's going to see how he feels when the time comes.
You know, he doesn't know when he'll be back, but he'll be back soon," Chase said. Last summer, Burrow had appendix surgery in the offseason. “It wasn’t normal appendicitis that you hear about. I didn’t really feel much.
Just getting checked out and had some discomfort so we thought we’d get it checked out. Turns out I had it. So we had to get it fixed," Burrow said last August. When the 2022 season started, Burrow didn't look his usual self on the field as the Bengals lost their opening two games.
But then, Burrow drastically improved and the Bengals finished the season with a 12-4 regular season record. It remains to be seen how will Burrow look when he returns to the field after a calf injury.
