Brock Purdy’s Recovery and Nick Bosa's Contract Negotiations: The Latest from 49ers

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, though not entirely recovered from his right elbow surgery, is well on his path to recovery, says General Manager John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan. "Brock is cleared and ready to go," Lynch announced, assuring fans that the team is following a well-structured recovery plan.

Shanahan added, "He will [be with the starters] when he's out there. The throwing plan's a bit different. We're never going to have him go three days in a row." Purdy's return was celebrated by the team this Tuesday, however, it was clear that their cautious and calculated approach to his recovery remains the priority.

While he has been medically cleared, the team is adhering to a plan that has been set in place to ensure a sustainable recovery. The Niners are estimating that Purdy's ramp-up period will extend for about two weeks. After this period, he should be able to participate fully in three consecutive days of practice, barring any unexpected setbacks.

"We won't change that until that happens, and as long as it keeps staying on course then we'll eventually go all the days," Shanahan stated, expressing a long-term view of Purdy’s recovery.

Meanwhile, another issue at hand for the Niners is getting one of their crucial players back in the fold.

Lynch and his staff have been immersed in negotiations with defensive end Nick Bosa's representatives in an attempt to finalize a lucrative contract extension. "I would expect he's not here to start off," Lynch mentioned, hinting at the complexities involved in the negotiation process.

"We're working, we're having really good communication with [Bosa's agent] Brian Ayrault. ... We're working diligently to try to come to an agreement." While the progress on the field and in the training rooms is important, the business conducted off the field also plays a crucial role in shaping a team's season.

The Niners are clearly focused on these two key areas, setting the stage for what promises to be an intriguing pre-season period.
