Tom Brady paid a touching tribute to his former teammate Ryan Mallett, who sadly passed away at 35 after drowning on Tuesday. After Mallett was found on a beach in the Gulf of Mexico, he was transported to a Florida hospital.

Sadly, there was nothing the doctors could do as Mallett was pronounced dead on arrival. Mallett, who was a third-round pick in the 2011 NFL draft, was Brady's teammate in New England between 2011-2013. “We lost a great man.

Thank you for everything Ryan. Praying for the Mallett family and all their loved ones tonight," Brady wrote on his Instagram Story.

Brady, the Patriots pay tribute to Mallett

“The New England Patriots are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of former quarterback Ryan Mallett.

Our thoughts are with the Mallett family, his former teammates and all who are mourning his loss," the Patriots said in a statement. Before being drafted by the Patriots, Mallett had a very impressive college career with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

During his time with the Razorbacks, Mallett broke every major passing record. In a statement, the Razorbacks said they were "shocked and saddened" by the passing of their legend. "We are shocked and saddened by the passing of Ryan Mallett.

He was a Razorback legend with larger-than-life talent and a personality to match. He led our program to some of our best moments in recent memory. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his mother Debbie and his extended family," Arkansas said in a statement.

After two seasons with the Patriots, Mallett ended up with the Houston Texans. Then between 2015 and 2017, Mallett played for the Baltimore Ravens. The 2017 season was the last of Mallett's NFL career as he spent a total of seven years in the league. After his pro football career ended, Mallett turned to coaching.
