Patrick Mahomes admits he is feeling much more relaxed after landing his second Super Bowl. Mahomes, 27, became a Super Bowl champion after leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a win over the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl LIV in 2020 February.
The following season, Mahomes led the Chiefs to another Super Bowl appearance but this time they were easily beaten by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After failing to make the Super Bowl in 2021, the Chiefs returned to the Super Bowl this past season.
In the Super Bowl LVI, Mahomes delivered a major performance to lead the Chiefs to a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mahomes on feeling more relaxed after his second Super Bowl win
"Honestly, I think winning the second Super Bowl has taken a lot of pressure off of me.
If you look around the league, winning two Super Bowls is crazy. Not a lot of people have done it in their careers, especially at the quarterback position. And so, obviously I have goals to continue to win, and try to win as many Super Bowls as possible, but it kind of gives you that relief to know that you’ve done it with two different teams.
Even though they’re both with Chiefs, it was a whole brand new roster compared to the first time I won it. Now let’s just go out there and have fun and enjoy it. It’s fun every single day. I think that’s what makes it easy is whenever you’re going out there, and just enjoying your work in any profession, it takes that pressure off you.
And I think I have a lot of great guys around me that enjoy it as well, so it’s just fun to go into work every day and try to get better," Mahomes told Complex. Mahomes, who will be turning 28 in September, isn't hiding the fact that he is aiming to win several more Super Bowls before he retires. Going into the 2023 season, Mahomes and company are considered among the top Super Bowl favorites.
