Head coach Robert Saleh says he is very optimistic that Aaron Rodgers will eventually land with the New York Jets. Two weeks ago, Rodgers announced that he decided to come to the Jets. But Rodgers is still with the Green Bay Packers as the Packers want the Jets to give up more assets to acquire the multiple NFL MVP.

“You guys know me. I’m a positive thinker. I’m sure eventually they’ll figure something out," Saleh said, per Pro Football Talk. According to reports, the Packers don't want to give a player like Rodgers cheaply.

On the other side, Rodgers was on the verge of retiring before having a change of heart and deciding to come to New York. Because of that and because the Packers do not want Rodgers anymore, the Jets are reluctant to give up a lot for the quarterback.

“You’d always like to [have it done already]. It takes two to tango, so it’s just a process. We respect the process and whenever it gets done, it’ll get it done," Saleh added.

Saleh says time not an issue in the Rodgers trade

This offseason, the Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett to be their offensive coordinator.

Rodgers worked with Hackeet in Green Bay and the quarterback knows extremely well Hackett's system. Because of that, Saleh suggests the Jets are not in a rush to sign Rodgers because they feel he already knows Hackett's system.

“There’s great rapport with the coordinator. There’s really no urgency. The quarterback is going to understand the system. The quarterback knows it. It’s just a matter of just refining skills and doing all that stuff.

So, there’s no hurry on our end," Saleh explained. Two weeks ago, Rodgers said he was 90% retired before changing his mind and deciding to come to New York. The Jets feel they have a complete team and they are just a good quarterback removed from contending for the Super Bowl.
