Gisele Bundchen says it is not true that Tom Brady's decision to un-retire in 2022 was the only reason that led to their divorce. Last March, Brady announced he was ending his retirement and returning to the NFL for his 23rd season.
In August, it was reported that Bundchen moved out of their house. In October, Brady and Bundchen announced their divorce was finalized. Now, Bundchen says there were more reasons than Brady's un-retirement that contributed to the end of their divorce.
"Wow, people really made it about that. What’s been said is one piece of a much bigger puzzle. It’s not so black and white," Bundchen told Vanity Fair.
Bundchen on why she and Brady went their separate ways
After 13 years of marriage, Bundchen and Brady ended their marriage.
Bundchen and Brady shared two kids together and they also raised Jack, Brady's child from the relationship with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan. “Sometimes you grow together; sometimes you grow apart. When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together.
As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make. That doesn’t mean you don’t love the person. It just means that in order for you to be authentic and truly live the life that you want to live, you have to have somebody who can meet you in the middle, right? It’s a dance.
It’s a balance. When you love someone, you don’t put them in a jail and say, ‘You have to live this life.’ You set them free to be who they are, and if you want to fly the same direction, then that’s amazing," Bundchen explained. In a conversation with Vanity Fair, Bundchen also noted that she still wishes all the best to Brady.
