Baker Mayfield: I wouldn't say that 2022 humbled me

Baker Mayfield refused to declare the 2022 season a humbling experience" as he simply stated that he is "grateful" for everything that happened this past season. After being traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Caroline Panthers, Mayfield won the starting quarterback job in Carolina but he didn't impress.
In early December, Mayfield was released by the Panthers and signed by the Los Angeles Rams. Mayfield, who became a free agent after the 2022 season ended, signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason. “I wouldn't say that the last year really humbled me.
I learned a lot from it. I still believed in myself like that's the only way I was able to, to get through it and finish on somewhat of a high note like real life, and, yeah, I'm thankful for all the experience to have gone through and that's what's gotten me here so ready for the next chapter," Mayfield said, per Rick Stroud.

Mayfield will likely be the Buccaneers' starting quarterback in 2023
After three seasons with the Buccaneers, Tom Brady announced his retirement from football in February.
The Buccaneers, who were expected to sign a quarterback this offseason, addressed their need for a quarterback by landing Mayfield. The Buccaneers' quarterback room also includes Kyle Trask, who was a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft.
Before the season starts, Mayfield and Trask will likely compete for the starting quarterback job with the Buccaneers. Mayfield is a veteran quarterback and the general expectation is that he will be the Buccaneers' starting quarterback in 2023.
After signing with the Rams late in the 2022 season, Mayfield had some good moments - most notably he led the Rams to a stunning comeback win against the Las Vegas Raiders. Now that Mayfield is with the Buccaneers, he will certainly be determined to prove that he can be a successful starting quarterback in the league.
It remains to be seen if Mayfield will have more success with the Buccaneers than he did with the Browns or Panthers.
