Los Angeles Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff has indicated that there is indeed a chance that the Rams will be moving on from star cornerback Jalen Ramsey in the offseason. Ramsey, who has two years left on his five-year, $100 million deal with the Rams, has been mentioned as someone who could leave the Rams this offseason.
Now, Rams chief operating officer Demoff has seemingly confirmed that Ramsey could indeed be on a different team in 2023. “Jalen’s been a huge piece of what we’ve done and I think, for all of our players, it’s going to be about figuring out what’s best moving forward.
When you are a team like the Rams who have had success, we have a lot of great players. People are always inquiring about our talent. It’s not just Jalen, we get calls on all of our good players all the time. The next few months, we’ll see what direction this team goes, but could not be more grateful for Jalen for what he’s done for the Rams leading this defense," Demoff said, per Pro Football Talk.
Ramsey believes he won't be cut
Ramsey is scheduled to earn $17 million in 2023 and $5 million is currently guaranteed. If Ramsey is on the Rams by March 22, another $7.5 million becomes guaranteed. This week, Ramsey took to Twitter to address the rumors surrounding him.
“100% chance I WON’T get cut. God bless tho," Ramsey said.
After winning the Super Bowl in 2021, the Rams didn't come even near repeating as Super Bowl champions in 2022.100% chance I WONT get cut ?… God bless tho https://t.co/QBxFbEktrJ — Jalen Ramsey (@jalenramsey) February 17, 2023
This past season, the Rams had an extremely disappointing 5-12 record. Following a very rough and disappointing season, the changes are expected to happen with the Rams before the start of the 2023 season. Ramsey made the Pro Bowl this past season and he is still considered among the best cornerbacks in the league.
