Patrick Mahomes: We will see in Super Bowl how close to 100% I can be

Patrick Mahomes admits he is unsure how ready he will be on Sunday but noted that he is definitely progressing well in his recovery from a high ankle sprain. “I don’t think you’ll know exactly until you get to game day.

I’m definitely in a better spot. I definitely am moving around better than I was moving last week or two weeks ago, and so, it’s just trying to continue to get the treatment and rehab and get to as close to 100 percent and then rely on some adrenaline to do a little bit extra when I’m on the field.

It’s going to be definitely better, more mobile, be able to move around a little bit better for sure, and then we’ll see on game day how close to 100 percent I can be," Mahomes said on Wednesday, per Pro Football Talk.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid: Mahomes has been moving well

“He’s been doing really well with his ankle. We had a fast practice a couple of days ago, and he moved well. He really can do just about everything, at least everything in the game plan.

I think he’ll be fine today," Reid said of Mahomes. Three weeks ago, Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in the Chiefs' divisional round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The following week, Mahomes was able to play against the Cincinnati Bengals and lead the Chiefs to a win in the AFC Championship Game.

10 days have passed since the AFC Championship Game and Mahomes has been receiving a treatment on his ankle daily. On Sunday, the Chiefs will be facing the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. For Mahomes, it will be his third Super Bowl appearance.

On the other side, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is set for his Super Bowl debut. It remains to be seen if Mahomes can win his second Super Bowl this Sunday.
