Damar Hamlin has expressed his gratitude to everyone who has shown support during the last couple of days. On Monday, Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field and collapsed. Since then, Hamlin has made a remarkable improvement in his condition.
Hamlin is now able to fully breathe on his own and each day continues to make progress in his recovery. In the last six days, the entire NFL community has come together and shown massive support to Hamlin and his family.
"When you put real love out into the world it comes back to you 3x's as much. The Love has been overwhelming, but I'm thankful for every single person that prayed for me and reached out. We brung the world back together behind this.
If you know me you know this only gone make me stronger. On a long road keep praying for me," Hamlin wrote on Instagram.
Hamlin making progress but there are still steps to clear before he is discharged
Although Hamlin has been making progress, there are still a couple of steps he needs to clear before the doctors discharge him from the hospital.
"From our standpoint, we would like to see him continue to improve, to be completely breathing on his own. And then to be ready to be discharged from the hospital. So those are the immediate next steps as we go for his care.
His family has been with him at his bedside, as have members of Buffalo Bills organization, really since this all began, and we really want to get him home to them, so those will be the immediate next steps and then we'll talk about potential plans for the future," Dr.
Timothy Pritts said on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills are playing today. In what will certainly be a very emotional game, the Bills will be taking on the New England Patriots. The Bills organization and their fans will certainly do their best to honor Hamlin before and during the game.
