NBA insider reveals latest regarding LeBron James, Anthony Davis & Russell Westbrook

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook reportedly had a phone conversation in which they expressed commitment to one another. Last summer, the Lakers went hard after Westbrook and managed to acquire him via a trade with the Washington Wizards.

The Lakers' Big Three didn't impress in their first year together, finishing with a 33-49 record and missing out on the playoffs. Westbrook received the most blame and he is reportedly been a subject of trade talks this summer.

In his piece for Yahoo Sports, NBA insider Chris Haynes revealed new details. “The Los Angeles Lakers’ Big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook huddled up on a phone conversation the first weekend of NBA Summer League in Las Vegas with each expressing their commitment to one another and vowing to make it work, league sources told Yahoo Sports,” wrote Chris Haynes of Yahoo!

Sports. “While the uncertainty of Westbrook’s future with the Lakers remains, the conversation was organized to make sure all three were on the same page as long as they’re joined together in their pursuit of a championship, sources said”.

James, Davis and Westbrook could get a new chance together

The Lakers had championship aspirations for this past season but they didn't even make the postseason. After the season ended, Davis expressed desire to get another chance with James.

Davis and James helped the Lakers win the title in the bubble and Davis believes they can win again together. "I think us two can. We've shown that we can," Davis said. "I don't know that's something we just have to reevaluate in the offseason, upstairs, me and him talking about this season and what we would like to see next season and kind of just figure it out [We will] come together as a group, to get back to championship mentality that we had our first year.

So that would be a very interesting conversation just from the standpoint of what changed. I mean, injuries, but even when we were healthy, I don't think we were able to reach our full potential -- for whatever reason. So I think we want to figure it out and just get back to that championship pedigree that us as players know we're capable of." The Lakers are willing to give James and Davis another chance but now the question is will Westbrook stay a part of the team.

The Lakers haven't been able to land Kyrie Irving and now the belief is that Wetsbrook could definitely be on the team's roster next season.
