Veteran center DeAndre Jordan, 33, is excited about being a Los Angeles Laker as he is hoping to finally win his first NBA championship. Jordan was a member of some talented teams but never managed to win an NBA title. Last season, Jordan was with the Brooklyn Nets, who were one of the top favorites for the NBA title.
“I think the opportunity is the same,” Jordan said, per Lakers Nation. “But I do think, and the way that I approach the game is the same, obviously, you know, as you get older and you start to see different things and, obviously with the Clippers teams, we had some bad luck on the team that was our last year.
We had a little bad luck with injuries and some small things like that. “But you never want to take it for granted, you want to come in and do everything you can to try to stay as healthy as you possibly can and learn from, you know, the game before, but not harp on it as much, move on to the next thing because it is a long season.
You’ve kind of got to have a quick memory, but be able to adjust as much as possible. And I’m excited to be able to be here and gel with these guys and build chemistry. It’s going to be a process but I think we’re all ready and excited for it”.
Jordan all good with Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant
Jordan, Irving and Durant teamed up on the Nets with the goal of winning a title together but that didn't happen. “We’re definitely not friends anymore (laughs),” Jordan quipped.
“No, I’m just joking. We’re friends before basketball, after basketball and I think ultimately we all just want to be happy. And being able to compete is something that is very important to me. They understand that and we’re brothers beyond basketball.
“So us being teammates or not, isn’t gonna reflect or affect our relationship. I did have a great time in Brooklyn the two years that I was there, being able to experience that culture in New York, my family being able to experience that culture in New York and being able to live in that city and play for that team was awesome.
I have a ton of memories for the two years that I was there and I won’t forget those but I’m definitely excited to start this next chapter”.
