The Los Angeles Lakers had one of the most memorable moments in 2024 NBA Draft lore, landing Bronny James in Round 2. An even bigger moment occurred when the next selection, going No. 17 overall, helped added to midfielder Dalton Knecht's illustrious career in Tennessee.

This move has without a doubt created immense buzz, particularly for one of LA's veteran stars in LeBron James. It is far from a stretch to say LeBron, the NBA's all-time leading scorer at 36 years old and playing in his 19th season this fall, said he would be ecstatic with that development.

But it was only the beginning of his excitement. Which made the acquisition of Knecht, whom LeBron loved watching play throughout his college career at Western Michigan University, even more thrilling. Dalton was, besides Bronny, my favorite college hoops player.

“I didn't think he would go 17 at all," LeBron said. "I’m glad he did." There was surprise surrounding Knecht's draft position because many mock drafts had him going in the top-10. And when Knecht was still on the board as the first round neared its final pick, even LeBron couldn't believe it.
