In the high-octane world of the NBA, the three-point contest at the All-Star weekend has emerged as a marquee event, drawing in the league's top sharpshooters. One such talent, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, is eyeing a strong comeback in the 2024 showdown, seeking redemption after a near miss last year.

Haliburton, in a candid discussion with GQ, expressed his eagerness to participate extensively in the All-Star festivities, especially in the three-point contest, a segment where he believes he had a missed opportunity. "Last year's miss at the three-point contest still lingers in my mind.

I should have clinched it, but I choked. This year, I am all in for redemption," Haliburton remarked with a blend of retrospection and determination. The Pacers star, currently experiencing a breakout season, is shooting an impressive 39.7% from the three-point line, bolstering his case for a spot in this year's contest.

2023 Contest Showdown

The 2023 three-point contest saw Haliburton, alongside teammate Buddy Hield, reaching the final round in a thrilling display of long-range shooting. The final round unfolded dramatically, with Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks, garbed in his college jersey, emerging triumphant.

Lillard's clutch performance in the closing moments, scoring four out of his last five shots, was a spectacle, edging out Hield's commendable score of 25. Haliburton, the last to shoot in the finals, struggled initially, failing to find his rhythm in the first two racks.

Despite a valiant effort in the latter part of his round, he couldn't surpass Lillard's mark, leaving the trophy just out of reach. The event was studded with notable NBA personalities, including Lauri Markkanen, Jayson Tatum, Tyler Herro, and Julius Randle, reflecting the league's growing emphasis on perimeter play.

As the NBA continues to evolve with a focus on the three-point shot, the contest has gained prominence, becoming a highlight of the All-Star weekend. Looking ahead to the 2024 All-Star weekend, with Haliburton expected to make the All-Star team again, the stage is set for a thrilling encounter.

His quest for redemption in the three-point contest not only adds a personal narrative to the event but also underscores the competitive spirit that defines the NBA.
