The Phoenix Suns are gearing up for a challenging three-game road trip starting in Los Angeles against the Clippers, aiming to rebound after their recent defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies. In the spotlight is the team's injury status as of January 8, with particular focus on stars Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal.

The latest report from ESPN indicates that the Suns might be without four key players in their upcoming game. Damion Lee is still recovering from knee surgery conducted during the offseason and will not be available. Meanwhile, the participation of Eric Gordon, Bol Bol, and Nassir Little remains uncertain as they are listed as game-time decisions, having missed the previous clash with the Grizzlies.

Durant and Beal's Return

Kevin Durant, who was previously questionable for the Memphis game, managed to return to action for his first game of 2024. His presence was a welcome boost, especially since he hadn’t played since December 31, 2023, due to a minor hamstring injury.

Bradley Beal, who has been hampered by injuries throughout the season, is expected to be on the court as well. Another concern for the Suns is the condition of their star player, Devin Booker. After enduring a tough game against the Grizzlies, where he suffered a rolled ankle and a hit to the ribs, Booker's status is likely to be questionable.

Given that the Suns are in the midst of back-to-back games, the team's medical staff is expected to be cautious with his health. The Suns have faced a significant number of injuries this season, leading to a cautious approach with their star players.

Durant had a healthy start to the season but later encountered ankle and hamstring problems. Beal started the season with a back injury and then suffered an ankle injury shortly after his return. As the Suns prepare to take on the LA Clippers in their second meeting this season, they look to even the score after a 131-122 loss on January 3 at the Footprint Center.

In their last game, despite a stellar 35-point performance from Devin Booker, the Suns fell short. Durant was absent due to his hamstring injury, while Beal contributed 21 points. The Clippers' duo of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard combined for 63 points, securing the win.

This upcoming game marks the third consecutive regular-season victory for the Clippers over the Suns. Although the Suns triumphed over the Clippers in last year's playoffs' first round, the teams have been evenly matched in their last ten encounters since April 28, 2021, each securing five wins.
