The Detroit Pistons, once an NBA powerhouse with a rich history of success, are currently facing challenging times, marked by a disheartening 25-game losing streak. The recent loss to the Utah Jazz (111:119) pushed them into a position where they could soon be tied for the second-worst losing streak in NBA history.

For many years, the Detroit Pistons have not been a relevant factor in the NBA, which they won three times and had some of the best generations in history. Despite high hopes in the draft lottery and the possibility of selecting top prospect Victor Vembanyama, the Pistons' fortunes turned for the worse as they secured the fifth pick in the draft, missing out on their pick.

Even the arrival of experienced coach Monty Williams did not bring the desired turnaround for the team. In a recent matchup against Utah, Detroit missed a chance to end its losing streak, facing a weakened Jazz team without key player Lauri Markanen.

Unfortunately, the Pistons could not take advantage of the situation, extending their streak to 25 consecutive losses.

The game against Brooklyn is crucial

As they approach their next game against Brooklyn, the three-time NBA champions are on the verge of tying the second-worst losing streak in NBA history.

Currently riding the fourth-worst 25-game losing streak, a loss to Brooklyn would tie them with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who suffered 26 straight losses after LeBron James left for Miami. Reflecting on past struggles in the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers also faced a challenging period during the 2013/14 season when they were considered one of the worst teams in the league.

In two competitive years, from the end of the 2013/14 regular season and the start of the next, they set a negative record of 28 consecutive games without a win as they went through a rebuilding phase. The Detroit Pistons are at a critical moment, trying to turn their fortunes around and avoid further descent into the annals of NBA history, but in a negative context.

We have to agree that this Detroit team is full of young players and maybe there are no big stars, but these bad games probably have some other background.
