Draymond Green's fiery temper has put him in the spotlight again. The Golden State Warriors forward was suspended indefinitely by the NBA on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after he recklessly hit Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face.

This latest incident marks just one more chapter in a pattern of unsportsmanlike conduct that has plagued Green throughout his career. The incident took place during the third quarter of the Warriors' clash with the Suns on Tuesday night.

In a moment of fierce frustration, Green lashed out at Nurkic, connecting with a powerful shot that shocked the arena and the league. The immediate consequence was a Flagrant 2 foul and an ejection, but the consequences extend beyond that.

Sanctions again for Green

The NBA, citing Green's "history of unsportsmanlike conduct," wasted no time in handing down the harsh punishment. The league's statement noted that "meeting certain league and team conditions" will be a prerequisite for Green's eventual return to the field.

The suspension comes on the heels of a five-game ban in November for Green's neck grab on Minnesota's Rudy Gobert, adding to a long list of flagrant fouls and questionable antics. While Nurkic luckily avoided serious injuries, the Bosnian center expressed strong displeasure with Green's actions.

"My brother needs help. I don't know what's wrong with him," said Nurkic after the game. "What he did has nothing to do with sports or basketball." This sentiment was echoed by Gobert, who called Green's behavior "clownish" and called on the league to take decisive action.

Green's talent is undeniable. His defensive prowess and playmaking abilities are integral to the Warriors' success. However, his repeated lapses in discipline became a major headache for the team and the league. The indefinite suspension sends a clear message: Green's fiery nature must be contained in order to continue his career on the field.

The NBA, meanwhile, has a responsibility to maintain league standards and ensure player safety. An indefinite suspension is a strong step in that direction.
