FIBA Announces Host Cities for Basketball Qualifying Tournaments for Paris 2024

A total of 24 national teams will compete in four qualifying tournaments

FIBA Announces Host Cities for Basketball Qualifying Tournaments for Paris 2024

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced today that Greece, Latvia, Puerto Rico and Spain will host basketball qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Games in Paris next year. The tournaments will be held from July 2 to 7 in Piraeus, Riga, San Juan and Valencia.

FIBA is the governing body of basketball worldwide. They are responsible for organizing international basketball competitions, including the Olympic Games. A total of 24 national teams will compete in four qualifying tournaments, six in each tournament.

Only the winners of the tournament will qualify for the Olympic Games. The draw for these tournaments will be held later today, and according to the current FIBA ranking, the teams are divided into six hats: Hat 1: Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia
Hat 2: Brazil, Italy, Greece, Poland
Hat 3.

Puerto Rico, Montenegro, Dominican Republic, Finland
Hat 4: New Zealand, Georgia, Mexico, Lebanon
Hat 5: Croatia, Ivory Coast, Angola, Philippines
Hat 6: Egypt, Bahrain, Cameroon, Bahamas Serbia, France, Germany, USA, Canada, Australia, South Sudan and Japan have already qualified for the Olympic Games.

Tournament Format Each tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with each team playing each other once. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, where the winners will qualify for the final.

The winners of the finals will qualify for the Olympic Games. Tickets for the tournaments will go on sale on December 1. It was announced that there will be no high ticket prices in order to increase the attendance. FIBA Statement "We are excited to announce the hosts of the FIBA Basketball Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024," said FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis.

"These tournaments will give the best basketball teams from around the world a chance to compete for a place at the Olympic Games. We are confident that the hosts will put on a great show and that the fans will enjoy the high-level competition." At the Olympic Games, basketball is a highly regarded sport that attracts the most attention.
