Kevin Durant, one of the most dominant basketball players of our time, has recently undergone a height adjustment, with his official NBA listing now at 6'11" (210 cm) up from the previously listed 6'9" (205 cm). This seemingly minor change has sparked discussions about the perception of height in basketball and the implications of such adjustments.

Durant's height has been a subject of debate for years, with many believing that he was taller than his official listing. This perception was further fueled by images of Durant standing alongside players of known heights, such as DeMarcus Cousins (6'11"), who appeared to be slightly shorter than Durant.

Some speculate that Durant's initial listing was an attempt to avoid him being labeled as a "power forward" or "center," positions typically reserved for taller players. Durant, known for his versatility and ability to play multiple positions, may have preferred to be classified as a "small forward" to avoid preconceived notions about his role on the court.

Durant never relied on his height

The implications of Durant's height adjustment extend beyond mere semantics. In basketball, height plays a significant role in determining matchups and defensive strategies. Some players commented on this news saying that it will be harder to guard Durant now because he "grew up" all of a sudden.

Of course it's a joke, and surely the defensive players will still have big problems with the great Durant. However, it is important to note that Durant's effectiveness on the court has never been solely reliant on his height.

His exceptional shooting touch, ball-handling skills, and athleticism have made him a force to be reckoned with regardless of his official listing. This will not affect Durant's career or the current season, but it is really a very interesting situation because it is one of the best basketball players of the 21st century. Now officially in the NBA, his height stands at 6'11".
