In a surprising turn of events, Cleveland Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson finds himself entangled in a financial and familial dispute, as he reportedly fails to keep up with his child support payments. This development comes only weeks after the reality TV star, Kim Kardashian, lauded him for his exceptional fatherhood skills.
Investigations led by The Daily Mail unveiled court filings from Jordan Craig, the mother to Thompson’s eldest son, Prince Oliver, and a renowned figure on social media. Craig alleges that Thompson has accrued a staggering $224,000 in unpaid child support since November of the previous year.
In a bid to rectify the situation, Craig is requesting the court to direct Thompson to channel $80,000 from his monthly earnings with the Cavaliers towards child support. It is worth noting that Thompson recently inked a one-year deal at a veteran's minimum with the team.
Craig Questions Thompson’s Finances
In the documents, Craig articulates her beliefs regarding Thompson’s financial standing, stating, "It is my belief that Tristan signed a 'veteran's minimum' contract with the Cavaliers that pays him $2.7 million per year.
The $80,000 request is certainly less than half of his monthly salary." This legal skirmish comes hot on the heels of a public rebuke from Kai Craig, Jordan’s sister, directed at Kim Kardashian for her public commendation of Thompson.
Kardashian had referred to Thompson as a "good dad" during an episode of "The Kardashians," a show that chronicles the lives of her famous family. Thompson, a former spouse to Kim’s sister Khloe, with whom he shares two children, has his parenting skills brought into question.
Kai Craig took to Instagram to voice her discontent, stating, "It's so painful to see how Tristan can find the time to do these nice things for others, but can't seem to show up and be a real parent for my nephew Prince.
The fact that he can take other children to school and activities in the same city, yet never sees or speaks to his own son, unless it's for a party or planned photo opportunity, it is appalling and inexcusable." Kim Kardashian’s perspective on Tristan Thompson, as aired on the family's reality show, paints him as a dedicated father to his daughter True and son Tatum, and a reliable friend to Khloe, despite his past infidelities.
Kim candidly expressed, "I know guys are gonna hate me for this and you're gonna hate us and you're gonna think Khloe is whatever. It's so crazy because he is such a good friend and he's such a good, like, dad, but he just couldn't get it together in that area, of like, being a faithful boyfriend."
