As the Denver Nuggets stand poised on the precipice of a new NBA season, eyes are transfixed on their main man, Nikola Jokic. The reigning champions have the buzz of the basketball world as they look to go back-to-back. With only two more preseason tests remaining, both against the formidable LA Clippers, speculation has begun.

Will Jokic get the nod, or will he be rested in anticipation of the grueling regular season ahead? Throughout the preseason, Jokic has consistently demonstrated why he's considered one of the premier talents in the NBA. It's unusual for a marquee player to feature in every preseason outing.

The risks of injury and fatigue are often deemed too high, especially with the regular season's commencement looming large. Yet, Jokic has played and played well.

Nuggets Dominate Bulls

In the Nuggets' latest exhibition clash, they dispatched the Chicago Bulls with a convincing 116-102 victory.

Jokic, the Serbian sensation, showcased his well-rounded game, delivering 15 points, nine boards, and five assists in just 23 minutes of action. The Nuggets' preseason record currently stands at 2 wins and 1 loss, the solitary defeat coming at the hands of the Bulls earlier in the month.

However, with their championship campaign on the horizon and a brief respite between games, it wouldn't be out of the question to see Denver's coaching staff giving Jokic a breather in their next preseason bout. Off the court, the summer of 2023 was eventful for Jokic.

After guiding the Nuggets to NBA glory, he opted for some downtime, missing the 2023 FIBA World Cup in which Serbia clinched a commendable second place. During his hiatus, Jokic became somewhat of a viral sensation with videos of his summer escapades making rounds.

While many fans reveled in watching the MVP enjoy his well-earned break, Jokic expressed his displeasure about certain leaked videos, stating in a Sports Illustrated interview, "You're not supposed to see [all] that." Jokic’s stats from the 2023 playoffs bear testament to his pivotal role in the Nuggets’ title triumph.

Averaging an astounding 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 9.5 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 blocks, he was instrumental in their championship journey. The real battle begins soon, with Denver's title defense slated to kick off against the LA Lakers on October 24.
