As the 2023-24 NBA season approaches, Houston Rockets forward Dillon Brooks is contending with challenges both on the hardwood and in his personal life. Brooks, who recently inked an $86 million contract with the Rockets, finds himself entangled in a legal tussle over custody of his second daughter, Luna.

Court documents made public by The Blast reveal that Brooks' ex-partner, Heather Andrews, has filed for sole custody of Luna and is also seeking child support. In response, Brooks has filed for joint custody. This isn't the couple's first legal wrangle; they previously battled for custody of their older daughter, Mila, born in 2019.

Legal records from the Tennessee Bar Association indicate a custody conflict involving Mila occurred in 2021. According to the reports, Luna is entitled to benefits from Brooks' NBA-provided insurance. Heather Andrews and the two daughters are presently residing in California.

Rocky Relationship

The public has seen various ups and downs in Brooks and Andrews' relationship, including controversial allegations from Andrews. Brooks played for the Memphis Grizzlies before joining the Rockets and was linked to trans-OnlyFans model Big Bambina.

Despite their tumultuous past, Andrews took to social media on Father's Day this year to express gratitude and love towards Brooks. As if these off-court distractions weren't enough, Brooks also stirred controversy in his preseason debut with the Rockets.

Within minutes of the first quarter, Brooks was ejected after committing a flagrant foul against Daniel Theis. The NBA slapped him with a $25,000 fine—a relatively minor hit considering his new contract. Brooks is anticipated to play a significant role in the Rockets' strategy for the upcoming season.

However, he'll also need to rein in his on-court behaviour, as referees seem increasingly vigilant about his actions. While Brooks prepares for a consequential year on the court, it's clear he also has substantial issues to resolve. Time will tell how these legal and professional challenges affect his game and career trajectory.
