Jan Blachowicz, former light heavyweight champion, has set his sights on the middleweight division and has offered himself as a challenger to Israel Adesanya. The two fighters have already faced each other in early 2021, when Adesanya attempted to conquer the light heavyweight belt, but Blachowicz put on a remarkable performance and prevented Adesanya from achieving his goal.

"Believe in Me": Blachowicz Confident in Middleweight Move

Blachowicz is confident in his ability to make the weight cut for the middleweight division and has assured fans that he is ready for the challenge. In an interview with "The Craic with Peter Carroll," Blachowicz stated: "People need to believe a little bit more in me.

And if UFC would like to make this fight, I will do it, no problem. I know how to do it. That will be great motivation for me, a big motivation, you know, to beat him another one, another time. So yeah, why not? I’m ready to do that." Blachowicz acknowledged that making the weight cut to 84 kgs may take some time, but he is confident in his ability to do so.

He added: "I find a way how to do it. And then, of course, how to do it and be in very good shape in the fight. If I wasn’t, I will not say that. But of course, I need a little bit more time. They have to give me like three, four months.

Yes, 205 is easy for me. Three weeks like this, you know, but 84 (kgs), yeah, three months. For sure."

Blachowicz Challenges Adesanya to New Middleweight Battle

With Adesanya having already defeated the majority of the top-ranked contenders in the middleweight division, Blachowicz believes that a rematch between them is not far-fetched.

He stated: "He beat almost everybody in this division, so he needs a new challenge. So, here I am! We met in my category; now we can meet in his category." Blachowicz's last appearance in the octagon was in December of last year, when he fought to a draw against Ankalaev.

He has since had a victory over Aleksandar Rakić and currently has no agreed opponent. The UFC may decide to make this move, as they lack a challenger in the middleweight division.
