LeBron James acknowledges the Los Angeles Lakers have set their eyes on winning the championships. On Sunday, the Lakers ousted the Houston Rockets on the road 134-109. With that win, the Lakers improved to 40-38 and they are currently seventh in the West.
The Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors - who are the fifth and sixth in the West - both own a 41-38 record. The Lakers have been steadily climbing up the ladder and now have a real shot at making the playoffs.
"We just want to put ourselves in position to be able to compete for a championship. It's a journey, and obviously, we don't have as much chemistry as a lot of other teams trying to compete for a championship or that have aspirations to win a championship, but I like what we've been building over the last month or so.
Even when I was out for the four weeks, I liked what we've been building, and I'm happy to be back in the mix," James said, per ESPN.
James hopes the Lakers do well in their last four regular season games
In their next two games, the Lakers are playing on the road against the Utah Jazz and Clippers.
Then, the Lakers are hosting the Phoenix Suns and Jazz. "These last four games are very important for our team. Not only in wins and losses but in the chemistry side of it, as well. We got to continue to build what we've been building over the last month or so.
So, we'll see what happens," James said. The Lakers started the season with a 2-10 record and everything was pointing toward them having another disappointing season. But the Lakers made several moves prior to the trade deadline and now they look like a much better team.
The Lakers have been playing extremely well over the last month and many think they can be a dangerous team in the postseason. It remains to be seen if James and company can really win it all this year.
