Kevin Durant confident Suns can win NBA title: We have all the pieces

Kevin Durant says he believes the Phoenix Suns have all the pieces needed for them to go all the way. Prior to the trade deadline, the Suns made one of the biggest moves in their franchise history as they landed Durant via a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

The Suns now have a star-studded team consisting of Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton. "I think we got all the pieces to be successful. We got guys that have experienced what it's like to play in that final round.

We got a champion [Suns GM James Jones] already that's overseeing us. Monty's a champion as a coach. So we got guys that been there and that's half the battle, just knowing what it takes," Durant said, per ESPN.

Why Durant asked to be traded to the Suns?

After Kyrie Irving demanded a trade and got traded to the Dallas Mavericks, Durant went to the Nets' front office and asked them to facilitate a trade to the Suns.

Durant went to the Nets' management with good intentions and they responded by making the deal happen. In his first press conference in Phoenix, Durant explained that the growth of the Suns made him him want to come to Phoenix.

"They experienced a lot the last couple years. You see the growth in this team. When Monty took over, when James came here, I see the culture start to change, the way they played on the floor. The energy they played with started to change, and I always loved playing here in Phoenix.

I knew this would be a great place to play and a great place to continue to get better as a player. You got somebody like Devin [Booker] and Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton, guys that work. And I wanted to be part of that, so I'm excited I'm here," Durant said. Durant will make his Suns debut after the All-Star break.
