Kobe Bryant's shirt sold for a super price!

Currently the record for the best-selling basketball tank top in history belongs to Michael Jordan. This is the one worn for Game 1 of the 1998 Nba Finals, which Sotheby's sold for more than 10 million dollars last September.

But a Kobe Bryant shirt, sold at auction at Sotheby's, came close to breaking the record of the former star of the Chicago Bulls. At 9:06 am PDT on Jan.26, 2020, Kobe Bryant, his thirteen-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven other people took off from Orange County-John Wayne, Calif., Aboard the Sikorsky S-76B branded N72EX helicopter.

The aircraft crashed in Calabasas at about 9:47 am, catching fire. Los Angeles County firefighters put out the fire at 10:30 am, confirming the deaths of all passengers. According to the first reports the helicopter crashed due to the thick fog.

On February 7, the strictly private funeral was held at the Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, California, after which Bryant and his daughter were buried. A public commemoration was held on February 24 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where ordinary people, many personalities from the world of NBA basketball and friends of Bryant gathered.

A Los Angeles Lakers shirt, worn by Kobe Bryant, dating back to the 2007-08 MVP season, was sold by the well-known auction house for $5,489,700. This is the second most expensive basketball jersey in history.

Bryant wore that tank top when he received his only MVP at the Staples Center in May 2008. Prior to that point, he had worn it in 25 season games. Bram Wachter, vice president of Sotheby's, said: "It is an iconic tank top. The image of Kobe in that tank top has become part of culture, walls, books and newspapers. That tank top has become a symbol of passion and determination around the world."
