Luka Doncic: No way I'll surpass LeBron James in all-time points

Luka Doncic says there is "no way" he one day finishes ahead of LeBron James on the NBA's all-time scoring list. With 37,965 points, James is the second on the all-time scoring list. James, who recently turned 38, is nearing breaking Kareem Abdull-Jabar's record of 38,387 points.

Meanwhile, Doncic has 8,263 points in the NBA. "If you're saying me, there's no way, because I'm not playing that much," Doncic told ESPN.

Doncic says he will never surpass James in points

Doncic, who is 23, is regarded as one of the best and most prolific scorers in the NBA.

But even he admits there is no way he can beat James, who will very soon become the NBA's all-time leading scorer. Last week, James sat down with ESPN for an interview, where he discussed the record he is set to break. "I want to win.

[The losing is] not sitting well with me. I don't like having accomplishments, and it don't feel right, when it comes in a losing effort. So as we sit here right now as a franchise and as a team that's below .500 -- we've been playing some good basketball as of late, but we want to and I want to win at the highest level.

Breaking records or setting records or passing greats in a losing effort has never been a DNA of mine," James told ESPN in an exclusive interview. Even though James is 38, he is still dominant on the NBA courts. "To be able to go out and still be a focal point of my opponent's scouting reports lets me know I'm still playing at a high level.

I want to continue to play at a championship level and still be respected every time I touch the floor as a threat throughout whatever minutes I'm playing," James noted.
