Luka Doncic determined to lead Mavericks to NBA Finals

Luka Doncic admits that never being to the NBA Finals is pushing him to work harder so he can achieve one of his biggest goals. Last year, Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals. En route to reaching the conference finals, the Mavericks beat the Phoenix Suns, who were the first seed.
Unfortunately for Doncic and company, they didn't have a solution for the Golden State Warriors and that's why they fell just short of making the NBA Finals last year. “I think we had a pretty good run last year. We got to the Conference Finals.
They always push you. Until you win a championship, I think it always has to push you. And it will for me, for sure. So maybe that was it, too. When you don’t go to the Finals and win it, it always pushes you a little bit," Doncic said, per TJ Sports USA.
Doncic has been great this season
In the offseason, the Mavericks suffered a big blow when star guard Jalen Brunson decided to leave the team and sign with the New York Knicks. After their first 31 games of the season, the Mavericks have a negative 15-16 record.
Doncic has been putting up big numbers this year as he has been averaging 32.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists. But Doncic can't do everything by himself and that's why the Mavericks have a negative record despite the Slovenian's statistically great season.
Over the last 10 days, the Mavericks haven't been playing really well since they have lost five of their last seven games. On Monday, the Mavericks suffered a 116-106 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, extending their losing streak to two games.
Doncic didn't play up to his standards since he finished the game with just 19 points. Tonight, the Mavericks are again playing against the Timberwolves. It remains to be seen if Doncic can play better tonight in Minnesota and lead his side to an important victory on the road.
