Stephen Curry admitted Luka Doncic has a full offensive package after the Slovenian guard torched the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. On Tuesday night, Doncic put up an impressive performance as he had 42 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists in a 116-113 win over the Warriors.
Curry also had a big night for the Warriors as he dropped 32 points, five rebounds and five assists. Unfortunately for the Warriors, Curry's big performance wasn't enough for them to beat the Mavericks. "His size and his ball-handling skills keep you on edge the entire game, [and] that plus him being a three-level scorer, you've got to worry about everything.
Then obviously his court vision is unreal. It's an offensive package of being a playmaker and scorer, and when he's knocking down shots like he did tonight, it's tough. You want to take something away from him, but he can make play after play," Curry said of Doncic, per ESPN.
Doncic praised by Curry after the game
The Mavericks entered the game riding a four-game losing streak. Because of that, Doncic was motivated to end the Mavericks' losing streak and lead them to a win over the Warriors.
"I just participated, giving everything I got. I was really tired at the end, but we needed this game. I think we deserved this win, and we for sure needed this win," Doncic said. With the Mavericks up by a three, the Warriors drew a play on which Klay Thompson left wide-open beyond the three-point line.
Luckily for the Mavericks, Thompson missed the shot and the Mavericks escaped with a victory. "I was scared, I'm not going to lie. It's Klay. He's not going to miss many open shots. I was really happy when it didn't go in," Doncic said of Thompson having a wide-open three to tie the game.
Meanwhile, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd jokingly admitted he ran out of words to describe Doncic. "It's getting boring. I mean, let's see something different. Maybe do it with his left hand. I'm just joking. Look, he's one of the best in the world, and that's what he does.
Some of us can take him for granted. The man is special," Kidd said of Doncic. Following the win over the Warriors, the Mavericks now own a 10-10 record. The Mavericks play next against the Detroit Pistons on the road.
