Kurt Busch after victory: I felt like I had to play like the GOAT, race like the GOAT

Kurt Busch made a great success and surprised everyone with a victory in Kansas. One of those who could not hide his happiness is Denny Hamlin “Yeah, it’s big on a lot of levels. Obviously Jordan Brand is their very first race.

It’s just huge. I said it when Bubba won last year how huge it was. This is obviously a big one. It’s one that’s surprising, but not because I’ve seen over the last three weeks this team just continues to get better and better and better,” Denny Hamlin said, as quoted by firstsportz.

“And truthfully, I’ve kind of let them down with what we had on pit road, and we haven’t given the drivers honestly an honest chance this year. In a race track position means everything, they’ve been outperforming what we’ve given them on pit road, and so today it all came together.

I thought both cars were extremely fast. The 23 was very fast. I was around them all day. Yeah, two top ten and a win. We’ll take it,” he concluded.

Kurt Busch statement

Kurt Busch thanked everyone who was supportive.

Indeed, Busch can show a lot in the next races. “It’s all about teamwork,” Busch said. “I don’t do this alone, and the way that Toyota’s helped us, JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing)… My little brother has been so important, just on the family side of ‘Hey, you’ve got to get through these steps.’ “But this is 23XI.

This is our first win with the 45 car, and with Jordan Brand on the hood, I felt like I had to play like the GOAT, race like the GOAT. I had to beat the Kyles. I beat both”. Kyle Larson did not blame Busch after the race: “I wasn’t upset with him or anything,” Larson said of Busch.

“It was just hard racing there for the win. I knew when he got to my inside, I was struggling in traffic a little bit and he was able to get by and from there, I just had to hold onto second. “I just fought really hard today and overdrove it at moments. Just had to work hard for it”.
