A conversation with Denny Hamlin on the Actions Detrimental podcast centered around Ross Chastain's form. So far, Hamlin is impressed with Chastain's performance. In the opinion of this veteran NASCAR driver, Chastain does a great job with a car that does not have excessive qualities, yet he is still able to achieve great things in it.
"Chastain, the dude keeps making chicken salad out of chicken s—, most weeks. I mean, he does. Not saying his car is chicken s—, but where they’re at. They’re optimizing their day 95% of the time. They found a way.
Again, it took cautions to do it. Are you always going to get those cautions at the end, to salvage your day? Not always, for sure. But again, he’s riding that wave, until he gets the fastest cars again. "- Hamlin said.
Denny Hamlin on Trackhouse cars
There has been a great deal of progress made by Trackhouse cars recently, according to Chastain.
Given that many drivers are aware of the quality Trackhouse is known for, it is understandable that they would be concerned about this. “But I did think that the Trackhouse cars showed up this weekend with better speed than they’ve had in the past.
The No. 99, they battle back. They got a top ten, as well. So the Trackhouse cars are really good, about getting the best out of their day. Certainly they did yesterday”. With his comments about Talladega and his expectations, Hamlin had everyone laughing.
Hamlin seems to be using 'reverse psychology' this time. “We’re going to Talladega now. It’s going to be, I don’t know, I thought Daytona would be a s— show, it didn’t really turn out to be, as much.
I guess I’ll call this week, another s— show,” Hamlin said on his podcast. Hamlin will have an interesting task this time.
