Denny Hamlin and his new contract with Joe Gibbs Racing is still a hot topic on the NASCAR scene. Many are wondering why, and whether Hamlin will sign a new contract with JGR. His contract expires at the end of this year, and there is still no indication of an extension.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. commented on Hamlin and the story related to his contract in his podcast. Dale seems angry given the statements from both sides. He wants to know what exactly is happening, and whether there are certain factors that hinder the negotiations.
“Everybody’s like saying all the right things, ‘Hey, I want to retire here, you know.’ Joe Gibbs Racing saying, ‘Denny’s definitely going to be racing here next year.’ And that sounds great and more and more than likely, hey, that’s what happens, but I’m just damn curious as to what’s your what’s the hold-up”.

Mike Davis and his theories
Mike Davis, Dale Earnhardt Jr.' s co-host had an interesting theory as to why the negotiations are still ongoing. "My theory is usually when these things are delayed, or usually these things move at the speed of the sponsorships and all that stuff.
Not to say that they’re looking for money. I’m not insinuating that”. Davis has doubts about whether the same story will happen as with Kyle Busch. This could also mean the departure of Hamlin to another team.
It is really interesting to follow the whole situation regarding Hamlin and JGR. This experienced NASCAR driver will ultimately have to make the best decision for himself. “It’s interesting if that’s the case that would have been the same scenarios that uh Kyle Busch was in.
They lacked the funding right, or they had the sponsorship stuff hold up, and that did not end well that had Kyle Busch go into another race team, so would Denny leave JGR?”
