After parting ways with the New York Yankees in 2022, Gio Urshela, the Colombian third baseman, has showcased his remarkable adaptability in new environments, a trait that has surely caught the attention of several Major League Baseball teams.

Urshela's Post-Yankees Era

Urshela's journey post-Yankees began with a trade to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Josh Donaldson. During his initial season with the Twins, he demonstrated solid performance, batting .285/.338/.429 with 13 home runs and 64 RBIs.

However, 2023 proved more challenging for Urshela following a trade to the Los Angeles Angels, where injuries limited his playtime to just 62 games. Now a 32-year-old free agent, Urshela's market value is a topic of much speculation.

Detroit Tigers: The Tigers, despite recent struggles in the league, could benefit from Urshela's experience. While they have strengthened their lineup with outfielder Mark Canha and pitcher Kenta Maeda, adding Urshela could provide a much-needed boost.

His potential partnership or mentorship role with current third baseman Matt Vierling could be an exciting development for Detroit. Chicago White Sox: The White Sox are in a phase of reconfiguration, especially in their infield, after releasing Tim Anderson.

With Yoan Moncada handling third base under a five-year contract, Urshela could be an ideal short-term addition to the team, offering stability and experience. Milwaukee Brewers: The departure of manager Craig Counsell to the Chicago Cubs has left the Brewers in a transitional phase.

With third base currently a weak spot, the addition of Urshela could provide the Brewers with a reliable and seasoned player, complementing the talents of young Venezuelan Andruw Monasterio. Los Angeles Angels: Having previously filled in for the injured Anthony Rendon, Urshela could be a logical choice for the Angels, especially given Rendon's ongoing injury issues.

A fit and healthy Urshela could solidify the Angels' third base in 2024. New York Mets: Reports suggest that Mets executive David Stearns is eyeing Urshela as a potential acquisition. With young infielder Ronny Mauricio injured and prospects Brett Baty and Mark Vientos deemed risky, Urshela could serve as a reliable interim solution at third base for the Mets.As the MLB free agency period unfolds, the future of Gio Urshela remains a key storyline to follow, with these teams emerging as probable destinations for the versatile third baseman.
