The future of golf is currently one of the main topics. Considering that many golfers are leaving or have a dilemma about joining LIV Golf, the question arises, what can we expect in the future? Jon Rahm is the latest in a line to leave the PGA Tour and join LIV Golf. Shane Lowry knew that the rumors were not random, and that there was a chance for his departure. He was not surprised! The two are great friends, so it's no surprise that Shane still thinks highly of the Spaniard.

"There’s no smoke without fire so we all thought he must be going.

[I wasn’t] surprised, as I am not surprised by anything at the minute. It is what it is now, it’s just mad to think we won’t be playing against Jon Rahm until the Masters. He won’t be rocking up to Riviera, Bay Hill, the Players, all the big tournaments on the PGA Tour.

It’s just mad to think that. It is what it is. I am just hopeful it all irons itself out soon, and we will be back playing together again soon. I don’t know when that will be, but hopefully soon.”- he said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com

Shane Lowry on the future of the golf

Lowry doesn't bother too much about things that aren't related to his career. The fact is that he would like to play with Rahm at the next Ryder Cup, but he is aware that he is not the one who decides about it. McIlroy also asked for rule changes so that Rahm could play in the Ryder Cup in two years.

"I don't know what should happen or what could happen. The one thing I do know is that I want to be on a winning Ryder Cup team in Bethpage and if we do need Jon Rahm to do that, we probably should have him, but who knows what's going to happen, who knows what the DP World Tour will do."
