Gary Player, the man who left a big mark on the golf scene, wants to see the legendary Tiger Woods in South Africa at the tournament. Woods had the opportunity to play there 25 years ago. Since then, he has not appeared again.
Many wonder if Woods will really accept such an option and shine again on another continent. Looking at his current condition and injury, it's hard to be optimistic. Player was clear and decided to invite his son, Charlie, from whom great things are still expected.
It would be a great story for the two of them.
"We've got to get Tiger Woods back here somehow," Player was optimistic talking on Sky Sports. "[His presence] would enhance this tournament to another level. We got to honour his son who's a tremendous young golfer named after Charlie Sifford."
Gary Player gives praise to golfers
Gary Player hopes that the future of this tournament could bring great stories.
His optimism is primarily based on the appearance of as many players as possible from the US, and he believes that this is an ideal chance for them to show their qualities. Justin Thomas and Max Homa are the two who appeared this year and wowed the crowd.
"It's good to see them here. We need more American players to come, but I think these fellas that are here are enjoying it. They've been telling us they'll go back and tell their friends." Max Homa is known as a golfer who has enormous respect for everyone and appreciates his senior colleagues.
This time he showed it again! "That man is the most warm guy I've met in years. Last night he came and said hello to all our tables at the restaurant. Arnold Palmer set the stage when he used to do that, so I've tried when I go to the restaurant last night I go to every table in the restaurant. He [Homa] did the same thing which is great to see."
