Zach Johnson on why Spieth and Burns are part of the USA Ryder Cup team
by SEAD DEDOVIC
Looking at the USA team roster, Zach Johnson had a difficult task. This experienced golfer knew that the public could put enormous pressure on him. Nevertheless, he took responsibility and chose the best who would play in Rome this year.
There are many interesting names on the list, and it is expected that the USA team could take the victory. Johnson first commented on his decision to make Spieth a part of the team; "Great putter, great short game. Seems he’s never out of the hole.
I’ve been on the bad end of that myself. Great match play player, very consistent year, and we’ve seen that in the last so many odd years. Just seems to bring his best out in the hardest of situations. All the intangibles you want as a teammate and as a player, a lot of heart, a lot of spirit, a lot of experience and one of our - I would say one of our stalwarts on Team USA."- Johnson said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com!
Zach Johnson on Sam Burns: Guys want to be around him
Sam Burns is one of the favorites among many. His charisma, qualities, and everything else make him a special player. In addition, Johnson knew that Burns could give the team a lot that they were missing.
It will be interesting to follow his performances at the Ryder Cup. "Stud athlete, number one. Won the World Golf Match Play Championships this year. Tremendous putter, which is always good in a Ryder Cup. To say that he meshes well with the other guys on the team, again, would be a massive understatement.
And a versatile teammate. Guys want to be around him. Guys want to play with him. It’s nice locking hands with somebody, locking shoulders with somebody that you want to be around, and Sam fits that to a tee."
