What a turnaround: Max Verstappen wins Mexico GP!

Max Verstappen wins in Mexico. The second is Lewis Hamilton and the third is Sergio Perez. Max Verstappen came to his 19th career victory. This time it was a very important victory due to the title fight. The Dutchman overtook both Mercedes drivers at the start.

After the restart, the Red Bull driver clearly retained the leading position. Verstappen was briefly in 2nd place after going into pit, but after his teammate did the same he returned to the first position which he did not drop until the end of the race.

Lewis Hamilton can be very pleased with 2nd place. The seven-time world champion could not keep up with the pace set by his biggest competitor for the title. The driver of the Mercedes was under pressure from Perez but managed to retain second place until the end of the race.

Sergio Perez had a great performance in his home race. The Mexican also received the flattering recognition of the driver of the day. Checo flew down the track in the second part of the race to try to catch up with Hamilton.

He came to the DRS zone but failed in his intention to overtake the Mercedes driver. He ended up in a great 3rd place. Fantastic Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman took advantage of the crowd at the start, when SC was caused by an incident between Bottas and Ricciardo.

The AlphaTauri driver grabbed 4th place which he did not drop to the finish line. Charles Leclerc finished in 5th place. Towards the end of the first stint, the Monegasque approached Gasly, but that was only an attempt. However, this result is very good for him and Ferrari because of the race they are leading with McLaren.

Carlos Sainz was just behind Leclerc in 6th place.

Other drivers

The Spaniard had a pretty good pace, and at one point he got permission to overtake Leclerc because he was faster. Still, a great result that brings Ferrari ahead of McLaren in the constructors' championship.

Sebastian Vettel brings some points to Aston Martin. The four-time world champion reached 7th place with a very smart ride and strategy. Great Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn did a really good job today to win the points. The driver of the Alfa Romeo was quite competitive among the ‘faster’ cars, but he still clearly showed what kind of driver he is.

ICE MAN finished in 8th place. Another world champion was very good. Fernando Alonso drove Alpine to 9th place. The Spaniard came to new points with a very good strategy. Lando Norris is the only McLaren driver to finish with points.

The biggest disappointment was experienced by Valtteri Bottas. The winner of the pole position lost his position at the start, had an incident with Ricciardo, which cost him the race. Still, Bottas eventually got to the fastest lap and thus prevented Verstappen from taking the bonus point. The Finn ended up in 15th place.
