Toto Wolff thinks Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton could hit each other in the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi if it means winning the title. The Mercedes boss thinks they might see something similar to 1990 when Senna in a Suzuki knocked out Prost to win the title.

The two had a big collision at Suzuki a year earlier that decided the champion. Hamilton and Verstappen claim they still have a good relationship but have already had two major clashes this season — at Silverstone and Monza.

The fight for the title between the Mercedes and Red Bull drivers is very close, and there is a chance that the two of them could collide again by the end of the season. Wolff is convinced that this will happen and that the driver who has a point advantage in the last race will try to knock out his rival — although he says he would never persuade Hamilton to do such a thing.

"If there is a scenario of competing for the title in the last race in Abu Dhabi, I think that the driver who has the advantage will absolutely try to do the same thing that Senna and Prost did."

Gladiators

"What happened in Monza? Verstappen kicked Lewis out because he started threatening him and he was faster.

That is completely understandable. " "When you fight for the title and see that the title eludes you because your rival started threatening you, what other weapon do you have besides the one to make sure he doesn't pass in front of you? We saw it with Schumacher and Villeneuve, we saw it twice with Senna and Prost.

" "I would never instruct someone to drive into someone, but if they enter the last race so that the one who finishes in front wins the title, they will race fiercely against each other." "I don't think you can control it, Hamilton and Verstappen, I don't think you even want to control it because they are gladiators in their machines, "Wolff said.

Verstappen is currently 12 points ahead of Hamilton in the drivers ’standings, with 5 races left by the end of the season. This will be one of the most exciting races between the two top drivers. Most F1 fans are looking forward to what will happen because it has never been more interesting, especially when we consider the mentality and skill of both drivers.
