Pierre Gasly furious at Red Bull's decisions

Pierre Gasly doesn’t understand why Red Bull has ignored his good rides over the last two years and says he’s a bit ‘frustrated’ that the Austrian team isn’t giving him another chance. The Frenchman was promoted from Toro Rosso to Red Bull after his first full season in Formula 1 in 2018, where he stayed only half the season because the Austrian team decided to return him to their ‘sister’ team during the summer break.

Gasly did not ‘crack’ under pressure. On the contrary, he got his career back on track and has been driving great since returning to Toro Rosso / AlphaTauri in mid-2019. He won 3 podiums (2nd place in Brazil in 2019, victory in Italy last year, and 3rd place in Azerbaijan this year), and this season he is driving even better than last.

But Red Bull have decided to keep Perez next to Verstappen for next year as well, while AlphaTauri confirmed last week that Gasly and Tsunoda will make up their driving lineup next year as well.

Gasly's statement

Gasly said he doesn’t understand why Red Bull ignores his good rides and why they don’t want to ‘reward’ him for it.

“I had the best season since Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri started participating in Formula 1 15 years ago, but I was not rewarded for it. On the one hand, I am frustrated and sad, but that’s the way it is. Some things are beyond my control.

" "Obviously, they preferred to continue with Perez. When I look at his performance, especially in Zandvoort where he dropped out in Q1 and then finished eighth, lagging behind his teammate — but he still won the driver of the day award.

I don't understand that. " "It is, as it is. I have no control over these things. I focus only on what I can influence. It only helps me if I do my best for my team and for myself. I am sure that it will be worth it in the future because one day I will get a chance in the top team, "said Gasly.

Gasly already has 66 points this season and could already surpass his last year's score of 75 points in the next races. It is obvious that such statements by Gasly will provoke a reaction from the leader of Red Bull, and the question is whether such moves jeopardize his position in the team.

Of course, the reaction of someone from Red Bull will arrive soon, and Gasly should be more careful in his speeches in public.
