Verstappen was the fastest before qualifying ahead of two Ferraris

Max Verstappen drove the fastest lap this weekend and set the fastest time in the third free practice which was stopped twice due to a collision and Ferrari drivers took second and third place. Verstappen drove 1: 11.294 in his fastest lap, just 0.047 seconds ahead of Sainz in a long-held Ferrari position that set his time while the track was slower, with Leclerc finishing third with 0.258 from behind after making a mistake in his fastest lap.

Mercedes struggled to find speed on the streets of Monte Carlo and Bottas and Hamilton often blocked the wheels on braking, finishing only fourth and seventh with lags of 0.471 and 0.726 seconds. Perez had very good speed on medium tires, but on soft he was not as fast as Verstappen and finished fifth fastest with half a second behind while Norris in McLaren was faster than Hamilton by 0.032 s.

Raikkonen was eighth fastest for Alfa Romeo and is the first driver with a lag of more than a second, and Gasly was ninth for AlphaTauri with another 0.059 behind.

Vettel, Ricciardo, Schumacher

For the third time in a row, Vettel was faster than Stroll in the duel of Aston Martin drivers who finished 10th and 12th, and they were separated by the slower Alfa Romeo driver Giovinazzi.

Ricciardo continues to struggle in Monaco in a McLaren MCL35M that doesn’t behave according to his wishes and was only 13th fastest, almost a second slower than Norris, and Schumacher was 14th fastest for Haas before crashing two minutes before the end in Casino Square bend and caused an earlier finish of training.

This is the second time this weekend that Schumacher has smashed his Haas and the mechanics will have a difficult task fixing his car ahead of qualifiers scheduled for 3 pm until his teammate has had those problems and finished 16th fastest ahead of the two Williams.

Alonso split Haas ’drivers in 15th place for Alpine struggling on this track, and Russell was faster than Latifi who crashed about 15 minutes before the end of training in the Swimming Pool chicane and caused the first break of the third training session.

Tsunoda in AlphaTauri and Ocon in Alpine took the last two positions in the last free practice in Monaco. And this time, like many so far, some surprises happened. Vestappen is driving really well and could do a miracle this season. If the car is OK and Verstappen is at the same level, we can expect everything by the end
