Team Sauber Motosport caught the attention of Formula 1 fans immediately after the presentation of their new car. They enter the 2024 season with a fresh identity, a new car and a striking fluorescent green and black livery.

The Swiss team is entering a new era after ending its four-year cooperation with Alfa Romeo, and two seasons before it will become Audi's factory F1 team. Marking a significant departure from its predecessor, the 2024 team car, designated the C44, boasts a host of changes aimed at improving performance and competitiveness on the track, but what has drawn the most attention is the car's appearance itself.

Technical innovations

One of the most significant adjustments lies in the tuning of the suspension, it looks like the team wants to primarily improve the car's handling characteristics this year. Additionally, the C44 features revised aerodynamic components, including a redesigned body and bonnet, along with a new floor – a key area in the quest for improved lap times.

James Key, the team's technical director, announced the big changes, saying: "The car will look significantly different to last year. We've made a lot of new, exciting changes that have great potential and we can't wait to see them on track." Despite the car overhaul, Sauber has retained its driver line-up, with Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou set to enter their third consecutive season with the team.

Their continuity provides stability and familiarity as the team adapts to the nuances of the new car. The green and black machine will make its debut on the track in Barcelona on Friday, which will be an ideal opportunity for fans and rivals alike to have an insight into Sauber's new creation.

After that, all eyes will be on the team during the pre-season tests in Bahrain from 21-23 February, where the C44 will undergo rigorous testing ahead of the highly anticipated 2024 Formula 1 campaign. It seems that this season there are high expectations from the Sauber team as they aim to make a strong impression with their redesigned car, but most importantly we will see what results this new car will produce regardless of its very interesting design and appearance.
