After a disastrous season for the Haas F1 team, the leaders of this great team have decided to make changes, to improve things in the next season. The fact is that their team did not excel in 2023. One of the first moves was to remove Guenther Steiner from his position. Many F1 fans were shocked after such a decision. Steiner is a man with enormous experience, but also qualities. He was part of the team for 10 years. Nevertheless, regardless of everything, the leaders of this team decided to part with him, and the reason is simple: Bad results. The Haas team emphasized the reasons for its decision via the F1 website. Although they do not consider Steiner to be the main culprit for the poor results, their goal is for the team to go in a different direction, and his departure will be one of the first steps.

"It came down to performance. Here we are in our eighth year, over 160 races – we have never had a podium. The last couple of years, we’ve been 10th or ninth. I’m not sitting here saying it’s Guenther’s fault, or anything like that, but it just seems like this was an appropriate time to make a change and try a different direction, because it doesn’t seem like continuing with what we had is really going to work.”-Haas told, as reported by

Haas F1 team owner Gene Haas has a great opinion of Steiner. The fact that they have been working together for years speaks volumes about the trust between Haas and Steiner. However, the primary goal of every team is to win and move in the right direction. The season behind them was not the one they had hoped for. In the coming seasons, the team's ambitions will be much higher. The Haas team does not want to be a team that will achieve bad results from race to race.

Gene Haas shared his thoughts on the team's performance, stating, "We need to do better." He explained that being a mid-pack team is more favorable for attracting and retaining sponsors compared to being at the bottom. Haas also mentioned that improving the team's speed could lead to receiving more Formula One Management (FOM) funds, making things easier for the team.

Gene stressed the ultimate goal of winning and expressed confusion about the team's current 10th place standing, considering the team's strong foundation, quality engines, and talented drivers. Haas believes there's room for improvement given the team's resources and skilled personnel.

This speaks volumes for how frustrated the main man of the Haas team is with the results. It seems that all these years he did not want to have such furious reactions to bad results, and he did not want to react. The 2023 season was the last straw.

Damon Hill reacts to Steiner leaving the Haas F1 team

This decision was followed by many reactions from the F1 world, and one of those who reacted was Damon Hill. This once-great F1 driver gave his take on the whole situation;

Damon Hill talked about Guenther Steiner leaving the Haas F1 team. He mentioned that Steiner became famous, especially because of the Netflix series "Drive to Survive," which showed what happens behind the scenes. Hill described Steiner as a confident and decisive person who strongly wanted the team to win.   In the seasons behind us, Steiner has shown many times so far what kind of person he is.

From the first day he joined the team, he had his own specific attitude and wanted to help the team achieve great results. However, the Haas team was not as focused as the other teams, and their financial strength could not be compared to other teams. Blaming Steiner for bad results is nonsense. However, the main man of the Haas team is also aware of this.

Even though Hill wasn't sure why Steiner left, he said it's a big loss for the sport. Hill pointed out that fans liked Steiner because he was outspoken and not afraid to be controversial. Hill suggested that the team's performance under Steiner may not have met Gene Haas's expectations, leading to Steiner's departure.

It will be interesting to see what the next moves of this team will be. They are preparing a large number of changes in the next few weeks and months. This attitude of the Haas team gives rise to optimism that in the coming years we will have greater competition on the F1 scene and many more teams that will compete for the very top. Likewise, it will be interesting to follow the future of this team without Steiner, and to see if Steiner was one of those who hindered the progress of this team.
