Last season was a real rollercoaster for George Russell. He faced a lot of hurdles, but he never even thought about giving up. 2022 was a great season for him, and he achieved Mercedes' last win in Brazil. Looking back at 2023, George said it was one of the toughest seasons he's had to deal with mentally. It's tough when you've got lots of chances but can't make the most of them

“No doubt, it’s been probably the toughest season I’ve ever had psychologically," he told Motorsport Magazine, as quoted by gpfans.com!

"Bouncing back from missed opportunities, missed results, mistakes. I think this is when you push yourself."

George Russell's goals

It seems that with experience and throughout his career, Russell has realized that he has the potential for much greater things than he imagined at the beginning of his career. When you limit yourself mentally, it is very difficult to give your best. George is aware of this. Therefore, his ambitions next season will be much higher. It seems as if we can feel in his words that he respects Hamilton less and less when it comes to racing. Russell's confidence could be the key to success next season.

“And probably when I sit through my championship years, I probably wasn’t being pushed as much as I’m pushing myself now.

I’m purposely trying to push myself further and beyond, and I’m not satisfied with just being on par with my team-mate in qualifying or whatever it may be.

Or [2022 when] we were very even across the whole season. I want to be ahead. And that’s what I’m pushing myself for.”

This great driver has yet to show his best. Next season will be a chance for that. Mercedes wants to finally turn things in their favor.
