Jos Verstappen, Max Verstappen's father is known as a strict person who always demanded the maximum from his son. Many people, listening to Max's story, believe that Jos exaggerated in many cases and was too harsh towards his son. In an interview with TIME, Jos even admitted that he once hit Max in the helmet. He thought it was necessary at that moment.

“He needed that,” Jos told TIME, as quoted by crash.net!

Max has spoken many times in the media about his relationship with his father during his childhood. Jos had a clear plan: To make Max a champion. This required a lot of work, effort, and discipline. Jos Verstappen knew that he had to sometimes apply certain measures and be an authority if he wanted his son to succeed.

“From a young age, I saw other kids running around, playing, not really thinking about the future.

But my dad, he had a plan. And I had to stick to the plan.

Sometimes he thought I was a bit lazy. I definitely had arguments with my dad about it.”

At one point when Max crashed out of the race, Jos decided to leave him on petrol, considering that they had previously had a conflict in the car. That story best explains how Jos was towards Max.

“He wanted to talk, I didn’t want to talk,” Jos said.

“So I said, ‘If you don’t shut up, I’ll send you out.’”

Max became a respectable F1 driver who many consider one of the greatest in the history of this sport. Looking at this season, it is clear that the Dutchman is truly one of the best in this sport ever. The next season will be an opportunity to see if Max can achieve at least an approximate dominance like this one.
