The future of Sergio Perez is always an interesting topic. Many wonder what awaits the Mexican in the future. Although there are rumors that he will leave the Red Bull team and find happiness somewhere else, it is a real possibility that he could stay and improve things next season.
In an interview with the media, Christian Horner confirmed that he is satisfied with Perez's performance in the last few races. “The last few races he’s had a reset,” Horner said, as quoted by crash.net!
“His pace, if you look at the analysis of this weekend, was very strong." Race pace is particularly something Horner is happy with. Horner is delighted with the way Perez raced and made progress. “He’s just got to sort his Saturdays out.
His race pace is strong. His race craft is fantastic. He’s probably overtaken more cars than anybody said this year. We just need him to be starting in the first four rather than ninth or 10th, or whatever his average has been over the past few races”.
Christian Horner on Sergio Perez's season
The fact that he finished second is satisfying. There are many things the Mexican will have to work on if he wants to progress. He will use the break to understand where he made the most mistakes and focus on the future.
“He still finished second in this championship, he won some great races, put in some great drives. He knows where his areas to improve are. A little reset in terms of how he goes about his racing." Red Bull wants to repeat the same successes next season.
Perez could be key in the whole story.
“He knows it’s a big year for him. He’ll take time this winter to reflect on where he needs to improve and I’m sure he’ll come back fighting next year”.
