While it initially appeared that the Red Bull drivers would secure the first and second positions this season, the situation took a swift turn. Verstappen confirmed his dominance, clinching his third consecutive championship.

Conversely, Sergio Perez has faced a dip in form but still maintains a distant position. Nonetheless, Lewis Hamilton is putting the pressure on. With three races remaining, the battle for the second spot could be exciting. Following the Mexico race, Hamilton discussed the opportunity that has emerged for him.

He acknowledged Perez's misfortune this season and noted that he lost many points. "It's mostly dependent on Checo’s weekends really. They have the championship-winning car. He's just been unfortunate, I think, in some scenarios.

Obviously I've lost quite a lot of points in the last two races but he lost points today. So it’s swings and roundabouts. I think coming into the weekend, having lost points last week, I didn't think I would really be in shooting range particularly but after today, yeah, we'll just give it our best shot.

Lewis Hamilton: It's more important to get the team second in the Constructors’

Hamilton is not particularly worried about whether he will finish second or third. The only thing that would save them is winning the championship, but the story is already over.

The Brit hopes that his team could finish second in the constructors' Mercedes seems to have 'revived' again, but much more is necessary if they want to compete for the title. The next season will tell a lot. “Honestly, it's not going to make a big difference to my life, whether I come second or third.

It's more important to get the team second in the Constructors’ and so that's what I'm focused on. It's a bonus if we get second in the Drivers”. It will be exciting until the end. Source: Crash.net
