George Russell: Lewis Hamilton is the quickest and the best on the grid

George Russell is someone who has enormous respect for his teammate, Lewis Hamilton. The two have gotten along great since day one and it's really impressive how much passion they compete for their team. Mercedes is not able to achieve its goals this season, and Red Bull's dominance is worrying for them.

Max Verstappen is doing wonders this season. At the moment, nobody can do anything to him, and there is no doubt that the Dutchman will win the championship again. Russell still believes that his colleague Hamilton is the greatest ever and currently the fastest in F1.

“He's obviously the greatest of all time,” Russell said, as quoted by Autoweek. “I learn a lot on and off the track from him, and he’s a huge figure for the sport. I think he's hungry to try and win more races.

I'm hungry to achieve that and beat him. Lewis still is the greatest driver of all time. And then you would define him as the quickest and the best on the grid. And I get the chance to go head-to-head with him, still now, week in, week out."

George Russell: You want to put yourself against the best

Russell has always wanted to have a teammate who has tremendous quality.

The reason is simple; When you have a teammate who is one of the best, you have the opportunity to learn a lot from him and improve as a driver and as a person. George has improved a lot with Lewis Hamilton, and there is no doubt that his future at Mercedes is bright.

"So you want to put yourself against the best because I believe in myself and I've proved to myself and the people around what I'm capable of, and you gain that respect by competing against the best in the business”.

We will see how long the two of them will be teammates. Expectations are huge for the next season, given that this season is already far from their expectations. Both of them have a lot to prove and will need to work together as a team to ensure success.
